TODAY’S TOPIC

There’s an aspirational version of you that jogs or goes to the gym four times a week, works at the desk in their home office, reads by the window in the evenings, and eats all their meals at the dining table.

That person probably had a lot of say in how your home is currently set up. The problem is that this version of you doesn’t actually live in your home. They mostly live in your head.

However, the one who does live in your house — the real, daily you — works from the sofa as they listen to whatever's playing on TV, hasn’t opened a book to read in months, and prefers to have their meals while standing at the kitchen counter.

Your habits are the most honest expressions of your lifestyle in a way your aspirations never will be.

In this issue, we’re diving into Section 2 of the workbook: Your Lifestyle and Spatial Behaviour. We’ll look at:

→ How your favourite corner reveals more about you than your floor plan does
→  How your daily habits should shape your space
→  What your movement patterns are telling you about your layout
→  Why designing for your aspirations is a trap

If you haven't downloaded the workbook, you can get it here.
